The Organisation

An established, entrepreneurial family office based in central London is seeking an experienced Finance Director to join its senior leadership team and Investment Committee.

The organisation manages a diversified portfolio of public and private market investments, alongside operating businesses, with a focus on supporting promising businesses and technologies and growing assets for future generations.

The Role

This is a broad, hands-on Finance Director role combining strategic financial leadership, investment finance and financial control.

The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for financial management, reporting, controls and investment-related finance, while playing an active role in investment decision making and working closely with senior family office stakeholders, investment managers and external advisers.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the accounting team.
• Overseeing financial reporting, management accounts and statutory accounts.
• Working closely with investment leadership on portfolio management and investment processes.
• Supporting the sourcing, diligence and management of investments in founder-led growth businesses.
• Managing cash flow, liquidity, tax-efficient structures and investment accounting.
• Strengthening financial controls, risk management and asset protection.
• Automating and improving finance and portfolio data processes.
• Working with external investment managers, advisers, auditors, banks, custodians and professional service providers.
• Supporting investment analysis and identifying opportunities across public and private markets.

Qualifications & Experience

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience, ideally gained within a family office, investment office, private equity environment, fund, investment manager or similarly sophisticated organisation.

You should bring:

• Strong investment accounting and financial reporting expertise.
• Experience across both public and private investments.
• Knowledge of private equity/fund structures, capital calls, distributions and NAV reporting.
• Strong financial control, modelling and analytical capabilities.
• Experience managing external advisers and professional service providers.
• Knowledge of UK and international tax considerations affecting investment structures.
• High levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.

Experience with family offices, UHNW individuals/families, trusts, SPVs, private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate or infrastructure would be advantageous.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is commercially and investment-minded, rather than purely accounting-focused. You will be analytical, pragmatic and solutions-oriented, comfortable with complexity and able to move between strategic issues and detailed financial analysis.

You will also be confident challenging advisers and investment managers when appropriate, while communicating complex financial matters clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Remuneration

The family office is determined to appoint a high calibre candidate and is offering a remuneration package which includes base salary, performance-related bonus, long-term carry and co-investment opportunities in new investments.
